Mayor's Office of Civic Engagement & Volunteer Service

Mayor Michael Nutter with the New SERVE Philadelphia VISTA Team

Mayor Nutter opened the Office of Civic Engagement and Volunteer Service to oversee the development and implementation of his strategic plan for service.

The office, located in 112 City Hall, is led by the Mayor's Chief Service Officer and staffed by a dynamic team of full-time AmeriCorps VISTA's.

Founded in New York City on September 10, 2009 by 17 mayors from cities around the nation, Cities of Service is a bipartisan coalition of mayors who have committed to work together to lead a multi-year effort to expand impact volunteerism. The coalition has rapidly grown since its inception and now includes more than 100 mayors, representing more than 49 million Americans across the nation.
