Volunteer opportunity description

ASAP is looking for volunteers to lead drama clubs for Philly students. ASAP aims to provide safe and supervised after school programming for youth in Philadelphia, and ASAP supports drama clubs in order to promote communication skills, creativity, performance, and self discovery.

ASAP's minimum requirement for volunteers is one hour of your time per week for one "semester" (approximately twelve weeks).

Volunteers can lead their activity any time between 3:00 and 6:00pm. ASAP welcomes all forms of theater, and needs experienced drama volunteers.

Drama volunteers also need to be excited to work with students and comfortable taking the initiative to lead the activity on their own. The ASAP staff works with their volunteers to set them up at a time and location that is convenient for them in Philadelphia. Locations include: schools, recreation centers, community centers, other non-profits and libraries.ASAP will provide all clearances necessary, training and supplies to our drama club leaders. 

ASAP also holds tournaments and showcases so students can compete and show off what they have learned. 

Requirements

- Attend an ASAP general volunteer orientation and a drama specific orientation.

-Complete your government mandated clearances.

-Arrive on time at your club every week for at least one semester (10-12 weeks).

-Come prepared every week to teach a well thought out lesson plan.
